This poster design was created to promote a fictitious event that I titled “Deaf Event At Olvera Steet.” I also took this opportunity to raise more awareness for the Deaf community. Deaf Events are extremely important to the Deaf Community because unlike hearing people, they do not have the luxury of going out and meeting people that they can communicate with on a regular basis. American Sign Language (ASL) is something I am very passionate about and I am continuously trying to learn more of. These events allow the Deaf Community to come together, have fun, and grow. The poster was hand-drawn on my iPad and then taken into Illustrator to add the typography.
Applications used: Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
Featured in the 2021 Cal Poly Pomona 2D3D+ Student Art exhibition. (Virtually due to the Covid-19 Pandemic)
Process Work of Poster
I took many steps to get to the final poster. Growing up in LA, I know how impactful street art can be. I wanted to capture the vibe of the LA murals so I made sure to use lots of beautiful colors. In the end I even swapped the "Olvera Street" type to something that paid homage to LA.
